2nd Birthday Tea Party: The Details

What better way to celebrate your 2nd birthday than a tea party with 6 of your friends?
I knew Charlotte was all about dress up & drinking “tea”, but was pleasantly pleased at just how into it all the little girls were, resulting in a ridiculously adorable afternoon!

Now, here are the details:

Invitation: PaperlessPost.com - Mr. Boddington’s Nephew has the most adorable stuff.

Decor: I found tonnes of inspiration from a wealth of websites/blogs, namely pinterest!
Since I am “conceptually crafty”, I rely upon my “actually crafty” sister to execute all of my ideas- which she does brilliantly! She made the cloth fabric banner, the flag pendant banner, the birthday hat, the runner for my sideboard, felt tea set and the pendant I used for the cupcakes. (Plug: She’s my sister & of course I will sing her praises, but they’re deservedly so! She’s so talented! Anyone interested in custom party items- let me know, she accepts orders! Or, if you’re interested in party planning services- don’t hesitate to contact me :)

The adorable plates, cups, doilies and cutlery were purchased from ShopSweetLulu who I have used for countless parties. She has the best selection of party goods, great customer service & delivery….especially speedy in IL!

Charlotte’s dress is by Popatu, which was a steal $26.95 at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale!

Food: Tea of course, in the form of Sparkling Pink Lemonade with fresh strawberries, heart shaped PBJ tea sandwiches, crudites, macaroni salad, an assortment of macarons, petit fours, homemade Sprinkles Strawberry Cupcakes and tea pot/cup sugar cookies customized for us by Etsy vendor Sugar and Flour.

Activities: The kids really enjoyed sipping tea, but the biggest hit was the dress-up basket which consisted of bejewelled crowns, wands, necklaces, sparkly boas (all purchased at Target) and some spare tutus! I also discovered these printable teapots via PieceofCakeParties so the kids could colour and decorate them with stickers.

Favours & Thank You: I purchased personalized Little Princess Teapot Charm Bracelets from Etsy vendor Stargazinglily & included a wrapped Sugar cookie. The packaging and printable label was borrowed from ConfettiSunshine , but I purchased the favour bags/doilies from ShopSweetLulu and sealed the back with some washi tape!

I had a difficult time finding a tea party inspired thank you note, but stumbled upon Sweet Muffin Suite & Muffin designed a thank you note just for us. I couldn’t love it more & she was a joy to work with!! I had them printed at Catprint- great quality and customer service!

Photography: No party is complete without wonderful pictures that capture the spirit and special moments of the day. Allison of Images by Allison Rose was really wonderful at engaging the kids and capturing all the little details!! Thank you :)
