For the past two weeks, C has been waking up at 5:30 a.m. everyday….thus, waking up the entire house and everyone being grouchy by 7:30. Both kids asleep again now.
Not only has she been waking with the roosters, but she wakes once in the night and comes to our room. Luckily she goes back to sleep soon…any other toddlers exhibiting weird sleep patterns?
Cyclists- I get it…spring is finally here, and you are out in droves, so go ahead, ride your bike and enjoy. But you know what pisses me off? Entitled cyclists who complain about cars, but plow through pedestrians in a crosswalk. Umm, yes, the rules of the road apply to you too…(guess who was nearly by hit by 2 cyclists yesterday?)
Love my local cafe & how every morning they have a different baker/bakery set up a table to sell their tasty treats. So fun to try different things - alfajores, pain au chocolat and yesterday mini dark chocolate banana loaf’s which I brought for colleagues.
Upcoming trip to DC is 90% work, 10% fun, but still looking forward to getting away and SHAKE SHACK. Not looking forward to tackling my multiple to-do lists.
Lastly, sent in my 23andme.com sample yesterday. I blogged about it before, but was interested in finding out if I was a BRCA1 or 2 carrier, along with other less scary genealogical stuff. For $99, I highly recommend it- knowledge is power. Cannot wait for my results to come in!

Once upon a time for my birthday, a boy gave me “A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius.” The boy is long gone, but that book has stayed with me and it has remained one of my favorites throughout the years. He always gifted me books and even though the relationship… er… if you could call it that, didn’t work out, I’m very grateful for the books.

I was just reading this article about the top restaurants in the world and El Celler De Can Roca in Girona tops the list. I was immediately transported to my short, but memorable time spent in Girona.

It is singlehandedly one of the most beautiful places i’ve ever been. Nestled in the Costa Brava, rich in history, charming, winding alleyways, colourful homes, and so many top restaurants. I wish we could have spent more time there! If you are ever in Barcelona, take a side trip, it’s about an hour away and amazing!

Happy Half Birthday Little Man! I feel like 6 months is a big milestone, lots of development and many new things: the introduction of food (started 2 weeks ago, more on this later), crawling, yes, crawling….time to babyproof! Exploring & reaching for objects and putting everything in his mouth, fascination with tags and becoming super chatty…he’s pretty loud once he gets going. I’ve heard him babble some mmmmmmaaaaammm…so close to mama being his first word, hehe.

He loves being in the Ergo to nap during the day, and for trips to the park he likes facing forward and kicking around in the Baby Bjorn. I’ve just switched to the seat on the bugaboo, so he faces forward and can glance over at his big sis (he loves it)!He’s a huge fan of his nightly baths and seems to love the water. Can’t wait to take him swimming soon!

Lately he’s been rising with the roosters- 5am wake up calls.

Excited to see all the changes 6 months brings and all the new introductions- trips to the park, swings, pools, the beach, and lots of new foods!

It’s been a very crazy busy day, work wise, family wise. My mind is still racing, here are some mundane things on my mind:

This little girl is full of personality! She’s inquisitive, curious and a social butterfly. She loves to make us laugh (see above) or does her silly hula girl dance. She often says ridiculous things- like the other day, she told us she needed a “diamond ciuccio”, italian for pacifier. No idea where in the world she got that one from, I don’t walk around asking for diamonds…but a diamond paci sounds pretty sweet!

She adores her princesses and dress-up, so much so that upon watching “Tangled”, she rummaged through her craft box, found her scissors and snipped off her own locks like “Tapunzel”, while I was nursing Noah in the next room. Fortunately, unlike me she can cut a straight line, so it wasn’t terrible….

She keeps busy with ballet and preschool classes, loves books, crafts and has a vivid imagination. I often hear her making up stories while playing with her characters, lego, or using her markers/books.

She loves trips to the park, eating- she has a voracious appetite and if you ask she’ll tell you that miso soup, tofu and carrots are her favourite foods and she loves being a big sis!

She is becoming much more independent and testing us in the process. The other day when the Mister tried leaving the park, she was throwing such a fit strangers were giving him the kidnapper glare (I was observing from the car where I was feeding Noah).

Nearly 3 and never a dull moment!

Weekend Recap

Friday night was for the SuperWhy! concert. Saturday was insanely busy, but in a good way! Trips to C’s preschool class, Noah’s pediatrician, the burbs, a park, shopping for me, lunch at Meatheads, Costco + Trader Joe’s and falling asleep exhausted at 9:30pm!

Today was for sleeping in (7am these days, i’ll take it) and waking to coffee and almond croissants thanks to the Mister. Early morning cuddles with Noah while watching CBS Sunday morning (love this program!). Caught up on cleaning, laundry, getting ahead with work and making this delicious salad w. shrimp!

Now relaxing and enjoying a really good pinot noir……

Last week I got caught up with the Boston events and really didn’t feel up to blogging. In terms of food we stuck with some old standards, but I tried a couple new recipes, spring veggie minestrone, delicious + crockpot and Roasted Cauliflower + Chickpeas with Mustard and Parsley from GP’s new cookbook.

Has anyone tried any recipes from the book? If so, what and what did you think?

Here’s what we’re having this week:

Sunday: Leftover Spring Veggie Minestrone (it makes a lot, so I froze half).

Monday: Turkey White Bean Pumpkin Chili

Tuesday: Mediterranean Quinoa Salad

Weekend Recap

This was a fun & busy weekend! Friday night we finally tried GT Fish & Oyster. It was SNOWING on the way there…I repeat, snowing! Spring, please grace us with your presence! Anyways, I knew the moment I would leave the house there would be breaking news about Suspect #2 and sure enough!

Anyways, the important stuff, food. I had pinot noir which was good, but chintzy pour, my stemless glass was only 1/4 full. This isn’t the norm right? We started off with oysters, plump ones from BC and briny ones from Mass and PEI, all delicious. Since everything is meant to be shared, our waiter recommended ordering 4-5 dishes and gave us some good recommendations. We tried the shrimp bruschetta (light and tasty), then an oyster po boy slider (easily one of our faves, kimchi gave it a nice kick), mahi mahi tacos topped with pork (another fave) and the lobster roll. The lobster roll came with fried onions (did anyone else see RHOOC last week?). I would say that was the most underwhelming thing we tried, everything else was pretty stellar. We were looking forward to trying the lobster roll since we miss our old haunt Luke’s Lobster. Sadly it didn’t come close to East Coast lobster rolls. We capped off the evening with the salted caramel tart, which was delish!

Saturday was for C’s preschool class, a trip to Bari for sandwiches and D’Amato’s for canolli’s, then a much needed hair cut! My stylist is fantastic, and is up on all of her Housewives, which made for an entertaining discussion. She did a great job, further reinforcing my need to win the lotto and have a full time stylist do my hair daily. Seriously!

Today was for waking up at the crack of dawn, sleep, what is sleep? After breakfast, cleaning the apt, doing laundry and organizing closets it was only 8:30. Started reading “End of Your Life Book Club” during nap time, then headed to the park to let C test out her new scooter! She loved it, but I think she loved the helmet & bell more!
